Born in 1992 in the city of Porto, José Miguel Silva is the DJ and producer that embodies Bassment. In 2009 he started to buy his first vinyl records, months before having his own mixing equipment. Short after, he makes his debut with local promoter Zona6. In 2010, he is referenced as an upcoming talent by the 105 Agency. Bassment played supporting act for Amoss, Was A Be, dBridge, Dub Phizix, QZB, Bredren , Makoto, Blu Mar Ten, Etherwood, Dave Owen and Nu:Tone. Bassment has played shows in Madrid (ES), San Diego and Oakland (USA) aswell as travelled all around Portugal, from North to South.

Experience behind the decks led to a natural transition and the start of his own productions, progressively transforming his basement into a true production studio. 

It was in mid-2013 that he started to promote his first musical projects online, and soon after he wins an online music competition for the Sample Genie website (DigitalLabz, Bristol, UK). Since then, he has collaborated with Bluejay The MC, Humanature, Psychic Pressure, Dub Signalz and Zezalien.

In 2014 he started releasing music with worldwide labels and while in meantime he co-founded the portuguese label Counterpoint. Bassment has released music with Audio Theory (GR), Beat Spectrum (AU), Citrus (NL), Counterpoint (PT), Delta 9 (IT), Drumad (PT), Fokuz (NL), I.D. Bogotá (CO), Kulture Klash (PT), Peer Pressure (UK), Promo Audio (BR), Skalator (PT), True Box (BR), Sample Genie (UK) [competition winner]. His music has been premiered in prestigious channels such as Skank and Bass, Forbidden Frequencies, District Bass, Data Transmission and DnB Dojo.

His music has worlwide support by Noisia (Radio), Philth (fabric:live x Dispatch), Xtrah (Funk Cast), BassBrothers (fabric:live x Playaz) and DJ support from Bredren, Document One, DBR UK, Mauoq, Sweetpea, and DJ Rusty. Among national support, his music has been played on Radio Oxigenio (Lisbon) and supported by portuguese producer peers like Bass Brothers, Molecular, HumaNature, Jabaru and award winning DJ's such as Nuno Forte, Blast and DJ Pix.L (Counterpoint founding member).

After having released 15 tracks in 2020 spread across multiple record labels, Bassment is currently focused on his first album. The comeback to your nearest club dancefloor looks promising, always fuelled by a lot of exclusive music ready to release!
